Organic Oils Direct is a wholly owned Australian company based in the beautiful seaside town of Yamba New South Wales.   

We specialise in sourcing and distributing quality organic essential oils to artisans of fine hand crafted organic skin care, home remedies and associated beauty products.   

We also provide a selection of our quality 100% pure unadulterated organic essential oils, carrier oils and raw products through our website at affordable prices so you can get the most out of your aromatherapy experience at home.    

With academics in agreement on the public health risks of persistent toxic chemical exposure there is an increasing demand for chemical free and natural alternative products. Almost all chemicals routinely used in skin care and in the home environment can be replaced by a combination of naturally derived alternatives. Many alternatives include essential oils not only to create a memorable and distinct aroma but to provide antibacterial, anti fungal and antiseptic qualities to the end product.   

Organic Oils Direct offers oils in flexible quantities from small quantities for home users to larger quantities for commercial production.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER  

Organic Oils Direct was founded by Tasha Keys a biologist, agricultural consultant and environmentalist from Northern NSW. Tasha has a long history of working with farmers and environmental groups addressing issues such as crop productivity, crop rotation, sustainable harvesting, vegetation and fish habitat conservation.  

Following years of research into the toxicity of chemicals used in the home environment she was granted a PhD Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship to investigate the impacts of chemical use in the home services industry. She also holds a Bachelor of Sciences with 1st Class Honours in Biology and Environmental Applications of Remote Sensing.    

Tasha’s aim in establishing Organic Oils Direct was to create a business that revolved around her environmental and ethical beliefs. ‘I wanted to make organic essential oils accessible so people could consider using them in more ways than just in an oil diffuser or burner. I also wanted to build partnerships with farmers and producers that were mutually beneficially, supportive and respectful. As a result of my work with farmers we have now partnered to form several share farm arrangements to sustainably harvest wild stands of Buddha Wood (Desert Rosewood) and Australian Sandalwood. In essence the closer we can be to the production of the products we sell  the better our assurances can be to our customers’.   

At the time Tasha founded Organic Oils Direct she also owned and managed a small organic tea tree farm in Northern NSW where she hand harvested and distilled tea tree oil from the heritage stands of Melaleuca alternifolia on the property.   

‘There is no better way to understand the difficulties facing organic farmers than to try your hand at it. Through my work on my own farm I educated myself about the differences between hand harvesting and mechanical harvesting. Season, weather conditions and distillation methodology are all factors that contribute to the quality of the end product. When we produce and when we buy product we are looking at chemotype (identifying sub species) and general chemical  composition of the oil so we can be confident the oil is unadulterated and pure to form.’
